Project Velius
Project Velius was an alternate reality game put on by the University of Alabama Libraries. Players would have to collect clues and different research methods to uncover a mystery involving fake characters that had an online presents. Before the game launched, the user was to recieve a set of different clues. Currently on the webpage all clues are revieled, but I programed the page to reveal different clues as time got closer to the game launch date. The first node started as revealed, but as time went on, the blue bars, inside the silver beams that connect the nodes, would grow over time, revealing each node, one by one (in a counter-clockwise direction). For the final node (the Facebook node) I used a particle engine to create a glowing, flurry effect, so that users would be drawn to it - the Facebook page was the major conduit of information for players.
